Announcement: Action required for Uberflip app updates
We'll soon be releasing major updates for certain Marketplace apps. Learn which apps are affected, and what actions you will need to take to ensure your apps keep working without interruption.
Who is affected by this change?
This change affects any Uberflip customer who is currently using any of the following Uberflip-developed apps:
- 6sense Personalizer
- Demandbase Personalizer
- Query String Personalizer
- Bombora Personalizer
- Clearbit Personalizer
- Rollworks Personalizer
- History
- Lightbox
- Sales Assist
- Flipbot
What's changing?
Uberflip is making updates to a number of apps which will require users to take action before and after they install the update. If you do not take the necessary actions, these app will lose some or all functionalities.
There are two types of updates:
-
Adding Stream-level app changes - Some apps are being updated with stream-level settings. After the app is updated the Stream IDs field will be removed from these apps and the app will not function until the user re-configures the app at the Stream level. The following apps are being updated with Stream-level settings:
- 6sense Personalizer
- Demandbase Personalizer
- Query String Personalizer
- Bombora Personalizer
- Clearbit Personalizer
- Rollworks Personalizer
- History
- Lightbox
-
Replacing app configuration controls - Certain apps are being enhanced with newly added setting controls, such as drop downs. After you update these apps, the values previously set in the affected controls will be lost, and you must manually reconfigure the affected settings using the new controls. The following apps are being updated with config field replacements:
- Sales Assist
- Flipbot
Benefits of these changes
- We are making these changes to the Uberflip-developed apps to provide you with a more user-friendly experience by make the app settings easier to configure and manage.
- These changes also provide you with greater precision to control your app settings. Before this update, apps had to be configured at either Account or Hub level. Customizing these apps at the Stream level was not possible. With the new app update, customizing settings at the Stream level is now possible. For example, customized Page Titles can now to set at the Stream level instead of choosing a generic title at the Account or Hub level.
- In the case of the stream level change, the existing Stream IDs field can only store a maximum of 30 stream IDs, this constraint will be removed with the new app update.
- In the case of the config level change, some fields have been converted to drop down lists to avoid typographical errors from occurring.
What do I need to do to prepare for these changes?
Apps with new Stream-level settings
If you are using any of the apps that are being updated with Stream-level changes (What's changing?), you will need to save your current Stream IDs before updating the app(s), then enable the app(s) on these Streams individually after updating. Also, you may have specified Stream IDs at the Account level, Hub level, or both. Hence, you should check both locations for Stream IDs. Implement the following steps in the order they are listed:
- In the Uberflip platform, click on Account Settings in the drop down list on top right side, select the Integration drop down list in the sidebar menu, click on Installed Apps, select the Edit (pencil) button for the app you would like to update. Make a note of all the stream ID's entered in the Stream ID field in each app. These are the account level stream IDs.
For the Hub level stream IDs (for hubs that are an exception to the Account level settings) click on the Hubs drop down list in the main navigation menu, select Integration from the sidebar menu, click on Installed Apps, click on the Edit (pencil) button for the required app and note down the Stream IDs. - Download the new app update by clicking on Browse Apps option in the Marketplace drop down list in the main navigation menu. Locate the required app and click on the Update button on the left. Once the update is completed, the app will turn off for the list of Stream IDs that were entered in the app previously.
- In the Uberflip platform, select the required Hub from the main navigation menu, click on the Content option in the sidebar menu, select the Streams tab, select the streams you had noted down in step 1, click on the App Configurations tab, select the apps you had previously used with this stream from the App drop down list and click on the Enable switch to change it to the on (green) position.
- Repeat step 3 for all required streams.
Apps with new configuration controls
If you are using any of the apps that are being updated with configuration control changes (What's changing?), you will need to save your current config control setting before updating the app(s), then select the desired config setting for each app after updating them. Also, you may have specified config control settings at the Account level, Hub level, or both. Hence, you should check both locations for these settings. Implement the following steps in the order they are listed:
- In the Uberflip platform, click on Account Settings in the drop down list on top right side, select the Integration drop down list in the sidebar menu, select Installed Apps and click on the Edit (pencil) button for the required app. Select the desired option from the Data Source (in the Sales Assist app), MAP Integration Type (in the Flipbot app) and CTA Gate (in the Flipbot app) drop down list (according to the entries noted down in step 1).
For the Hub level settings (for hubs that are an exception to the account level settings) click on the Hubs drop down list in the main navigation menu, select Integration from the sidebar menu, click on Installed Apps, click on the Edit (pencil) button for the required app and note down the entries in the Data Source (in the Sales Assist app), MAP Integration Type (in the Flipbot app) and CTA Gate (in the Flipbot app) fields. - Download the new app update by clicking on Browse Apps option in the Marketplace drop down list in the main navigation menu. Locate the required app and click on the Update button on the left. Once the update is completed, the Data Source, MAP Integration Type and CTA Gate drop down lists will now be empty.
- In the Uberflip platform, click on Account Settings in the drop down list on top right side, select the Integration drop down list in the sidebar menu, select Installed Apps and click on the Edit (pencil) button for the required app. Select the required option from the Data Source (in the Sales Assist app), MAP Integration Type (in the Flipbot app) and CTA Gate (in the Flipbot app) drop down list (according to the entries noted down in step 1).
- In the Uberflip platform, select the required hub from the main navigation menu, select Integrations, click on Installed Apps, select the Flipbot or Sales Assist app from the list of apps. Select the required option from the Data Source (in the Sales Assist app), MAP Integration Type (in the Flipbot app) and CTA Gate (in the Flipbot app) drop down list (according to the entries noted down in step 1).
What will happen if I don’t do anything?
After the aforementioned Uberflip-developed apps are updated, the app will not work until these settings are re-configured. Re-configuring these settings might prove difficult if you have not made a note of the previous field entries and settings before updating the app.
You may reach out to the Uberflip team to help you retrieve your old entries and settings if the instructions in this article are not carried out before an app update.
