What are Item tags?
In Uberflip, you can add tags to all content Items in your Hub. Tags are simply keywords used to categorize content, and tagged Items are associated with that keyword/category. A piece of content may have multiple tags if it fits multiple categories.
You can use tags to:
- Quickly spin-up Streams for key areas
- Allow Hub Search to find Items based on tags
- Use Smart Filters to easily manage your content
A few things to know about tags:
- Tags can be added to Items only — they can't be added to Streams
- By default, tags are not visible on the frontend (i.e. to visitors to your Hub). If you want to show tags (or Item labels based on tags) in your Hub/Streams, custom options are available. Speak with your account manager.
- Tags are account-wide: if you have multiple Hubs, any tags you create will be usable across all Hubs, and tags created in any Hub will be shown in the list of existing tags in the Tags Manager
What are Tag Groups?
Simply put, Tag Groups are collections of tags with similar intents. They’re fully customizable and can be based on any topic or parameter you want. Tag Groups can contain as many tags as you need.
Examples of Tag Groups could be:
- An ‘Industry’ Tag Group, which contains industry tags, such as: ‘aerospace’, ‘retail’, and ‘manufacturing’
- An ‘Asset’ Tag Group containing tags such as: ‘Brochure’, or ‘Report’
- A ‘Stage’ Tag Group, containing the tags ‘TOFU’, ‘MOFU’, and ‘BOFU’
Ultimately, the Tag Groups are up to you.
When tags are nestled cozily in Tag Groups, you have a tag structure.
What is a tag structure?
Your tag structure is how your tags and Tag Groups come together to form a logical way of categorizing content.
An effective tagging structure should be simple and intuitive. And when done properly, a tagging structure is easy to implement and maintain over time.

To easily build and maintain your tagging structure, we suggest using Uberflip’s Enhanced Tag Manager app.
