Sales Assist: Install the Outlook Add-in

If you primarily use Outlook for your email outreach, you can use the Sales Assist Add-in to easily share personalized content right inside Outlook.


 

Before you begin

  • This guide is intended for people who are already familiar with Sales Assist. Not sure what that is or why you'd use it? Check out our Quick Start Guide for Sales Assist.
  • To use this Add-in, you'll need one of the following versions of Outlook:
    • Desktop Outlook for Microsoft 365 (subscription) on Windows 7/8.1/10 or macOS
    • Desktop Outlook 2016 or later (non-subscription) on Windows 7/8.1/10 or macOS
    • Web-based Outlook on the web (subscription) or Outlook.com (non-subscription/free) with any browser 

Conflicts with other Add-ins

Certain Outlook Add-ins, such as Salesforce for Outlook and Cisco ViewMail may conflict with the Sales Assist Add-in.

If you experience problems with the Sales Assist Add-in and you also use other Outlook Add-ins, try disabling the other Add-ins to see if they are conflicting with the Sales Assist Add-in.

 

Install Sales Assist in Outlook on the desktop

Use this installation process if you're using a desktop version of Outlook (subscription Outlook for Microsoft 365 desktop or non-subscription Outlook 2016 or later), on Windows or Mac.

Note

Outlook Add-ins are universal, so this process will also make the Sales Assist Add-in available if you sign into the same email account in Outlook on the web.

  1. Open Outlook 2016 (or later) or Outlook for Microsoft 365.
  2. Click on Get Add-ins in the ribbon menu:

    • Can't see the Get Add-ins button? Click on the Store button (if available), or click on File > Manage Add-ins.
    • Using new Outlook for Mac? See below for help.
  3. The Add-Ins for Outlook window will appear. Click on My add-ins in the sidebar:

  4. On the right, find the Custom add-ins section. Click on +Add a custom add-in, then click on Add from URL...:

  5. Paste in this URL into the text box:
    https://sa.uberflip.com/extensions/outlook/manifest.xml

  6. In the next window, click on Install. After a brief moment, Sales Assist by Uberflip will appear under the Custom add-ins section:

  7. The Sales Assist Add-in is now installed in your Outlook account. To open it, just click the Sales Assist by Uberflip button while composing an email to easily share personalized content with your prospects:

If you're using the new Outlook for Mac experience, click on the ... button below the Search bar to find the Get Add-ins button:

Install Sales Assist in Outlook on the web

Use this installation process if you're using a web-based version of Outlook (subscription Outlook on the web for Microsoft 365, or free Outlook.com), in any browser.

Note

Outlook Add-ins are universal, so this process will also make the Sales Assist Add-in available if you sign into the same email account in desktop Outlook for Microsoft 365 or Outlook 2016 or later.

    1. Go to https://outlook.live.com/ or https://outlook.office.com/ in any browser.
    2. Log in to your Microsoft Outlook email account.
    3. Click on New Message:

    4. In the email editor window, click on the ... button near the bottom:

    5. Click on Get Add-ins:

    6. The Add-Ins for Outlook window will appear. Click on My add-ins in the sidebar:

    7. On the right, find the Custom add-ins section. Click on +Add a custom add-in, then click on Add from URL...:

    9. In the next window, click on Install. After a brief moment, Sales Assist by Uberflip will appear under the Custom add-ins section:

    10. The Sales Assist Add-in is now installed in your Outlook account. To open it, just click the ... button while composing an email, then click on Sales Assist by Uberflip to easily share personalized content with your prospects:

Alternative installation method (Add from file)

In some cases, the Add from URL method described above may not work (i.e. it may result in an error message). In this case, you can use the alternative Add from file method.

  1. Download the manifest.xml file for the Sales Assist Add-in to your computer. To do so, right-click the following link, then click on Save Link As:
  2. Follow the instructions for installing on desktop or web (as appropriate), until you reach the step where you click on the +Add a custom add-in button. After clicking on this button, click on  Add from file... (instead of Add from URL...):image.png
  3. Select the manifest.xml file that you downloaded earlier, then click the Open button.
  4. In the next window, click on Install. After a brief moment, the Uberflip for Outlook extension will appear under the Custom add-ins section:

  5. The Sales Assist Add-in is now installed in your Outlook account.
