Follow

Stumped by a term that you've seen somewhere in Uberflip or in our documentation? In this glossary, you can find definitions for Uberflip-specific terminology, as well as for some general terms that you might not be familiar with.

A

Auto-Link Tool

A tool for Flipbooks that automatically creates hyperlinks from URLs and email addresses found in the text. It can also be used to automatically create links on specified keywords using a CSV file or regular expressions, or on Digital Object Identifiers.

C

Canonical URL

The "master" URL for a specific piece of web content (or, in the context of your Hub, an Item). If the same webpage can be accessed under multiple URLs, the canonical URL refers to the primary version, the authoritative URL for that page. Canonical URLs are mainly important for SEO, because search engines see the same webpage with multiple URLs as multiple separate webpages. Specifying a canonical URL for a webpage can help prevent dilution and improve ranking.

Content Experience

A term to collectively describe all the factors associated with how your prospects and customers discover and consume your content. A content experience consists of the environment in which your content lives, how it's structured, and how it compels your prospects and customers to engage with your company.  Uberflip Hubs are specifically designed to make it easy to build your own content experiences. For more details about content experience as a concept, see this page.

Content Experience Framework

Uberflip's structure for creating successful, scalable content experiences. It consists of five steps: centralize content, organize content, personalize experiences, distribute content, and generate results. Your Hub are built around this framework, and contain tools to help you perform each step.

Conversion Item

The Item to which a Hub visitor's conversion into a lead can be attributed. A conversion takes place when a visitor submits a Form CTA, so we can identify a conversion Item if that Form CTA was associated with a particular Item (for example if it was placed as a gate).

Curated Stream

Curated Streams are collections of content in a Hub, used to create targeted/personalized content experiences using different types of content. Marketing Streams and Sales Streams are both types of curated Streams.

Custom Code

Blocks of code which can be added to your Hub to customize its appearance beyond what is possible with the built-in tools. Using Custom Code, you can use HTML, CSS and JavaScript to override and extend the code that runs your Hub, to make it look and function essentially however you like.

Custom Domain

A customized URL that replaces the default co-branded URL for your Hub. Custom Domains are usually used to integrate Hubs with existing websites, primarily for SEO and branding reasons.

CTA Tiles

Stands for Call-To-Action, a special kind of Tile in your Hub. Uberflip CTAs are designed to drive your visitors to specific Items or Streams, to contact you, or to submit personal/contact information for lead generation. Available in two types: Link CTA and Form CTA.

D

Digital Sales Room (DSR)

A Digital Sales Room (or DSR) is a personalized web destination that facilitates the sales process. It provides a centralized location where sales teams and potential customers can interact, collaborate, and exchange information to support the sales process. In Uberflip, DSRs are created using Sales Assist.

F

Flipbook

A PDF converted to be displayed in Uberflip's web-based viewer. A Flipbook presents your PDF like an interactive digital magazine or book, and can be enhanced with links, rich media like embedded videos, clippings, page widgets, and more. Flipbooks also enable enhanced metrics on your PDF content, allowing you to track pages viewed and reading completion.

Folder

A location in which Flipbooks are stored. Before you can upload a Flipbook to Uberflip, you must first create at least one Folder to contain the Flipbook. Whenever you upload a Flipbook to your account, you choose the Folder to upload it to. Settings for styling, widgets and other options are set at the Folder level, and all Flipbooks within a Folder inherit its settings. Each Folder also has a unique ID and link URL: when shared, the link will always serve up the latest Flipbook published in that Folder.

Form CTA

A type of CTA which contains a text input form. It's designed to collect information from Hub visitors and send it to a Marketing Automation Platform like Marketo or HubSpot. Form CTAs can be used to gate content or can be used for non-mandatory collections like newsletter subscription prompts.

G

Gate

To place content behind a Form CTA, prompting visitors to interact with the CTA (and typically submit information) before they can view the content. Gating with CTA is useful for getting the most value out of premium content (like white papers and eBooks) by using it to generate leads.

Groups

Predefined and custom groups of users in your Uberflip account. Groups are used to manage permissions in the Uberflip app for your users, typically based on their role.

H

Hub

A high level organization level for related content and tools to manage that content. Hubs aggregate all of your marketing content into a single, centralized location. Items in your Hub can be organized into customizable content collections (known as Streams).

I

Item

A single piece of content in your Hub. An Item can be any type of content: blog post, video, tweet, slide deck, Flipbook, etc. Groups of Items are called Streams, and each Item is visually represented in a Stream or microsite by a Tile.

L

Link CTA

A type of CTA which contains a hyperlink. Link CTAs can be used to send visitors to a webpage you specify, including other destinations within your Hub (or other Hubs). They are also useful for giving visitors a way to contact you.

M

Marketing Stream

A type of Stream that collects Items from one or more Source Streams, allowing you to curate collections of content for specific audiences. Unlike Source Streams, Marketing Streams combine content from multiple sources and can therefore contain a mix of different types of content.

Marketplace

Uberflip's app store, where you can get apps that extend the functionality of your Hub, and allow you to create even more personalized and and customizable content experiences.

P

Uberflip Pages is an all-in-one page builder and management tool, used to create microsites, filled with relevant content for any audience or prospect.

S

Sales Stream

A variation of the Marketing Stream that allows for hyper-targeted Streams tailored for specific recipients. Sales Streams are hidden by default and can be used to privately share content with prospects, so they're very useful for sales enablement.

Smart Filter

A workflow automation tool that searches for Items in your Hub that match certain criteria, then performs an action on those Items, such as adding them to a Stream or applying Tags.

Source Stream

A type of Stream that is used to aggregate content Items into your Hub from a variety of sources, such as blogs, YouTube, social media, etc. Once pulled into your Hub, Items can be displayed in your Hub either as part of their original Source Stream, or you can mix together Items from one or more Source Streams to create Marketing Streams and Sales Streams.

Stream

A collection of Items, Streams are used to categorize the content in your Hub in various ways. The basic type of Stream is the Source Stream, which is used to pull different types of content into a Hub. Items from Source Streams can be curated into Marketing Streams and Sales Streams, which are customized for specific audiences. Streams can also have CTAs interspersed among the Items.

T

Tag

Keywords which can be applied to specific Items in your Hub, allowing them to be sorted and filtered. Can be used with Smart Filters to automatically sort Items into different Streams. Tags applied to an Item are invisible to Hub visitors.

Tag Group

Tag Groups are collections of tags with similar intents. They’re fully customizable and can be based on any topic or parameter you want.

Tag Structure

The organized structure of Item Tags and the Tag Groups they're organized into. This will look different for every Uberflip account and should be created based on your organizations needs.

Tile

The visual representation of a single Item or a CTA. A Tile associated with an Item consists of a thumbnail image and a short description, as well as a link to view the Item. Streams are made up of a collection of Items represented by their Tiles, which are displayed as a grid. Tiles are generally of uniform size, but featured Tiles are four times larger than normal tiles.

U

Uberflip Analytics (UFA)

Uberflip's powerful business intelligence (BI) suite, powered by Looker. Use it to track and measure the performance and impact of the content experiences you create in your Hub, such as how well your CTAs are converting visitors into leads, or what types of content are (or aren't) resonating with your visitors. Replaces Uberflip's older analytics technology, Legacy Metrics.
