Force users to log into Uberflip using single sign-on (SSO)

Follow

Want to force your users to sign into Uberflip using a single sign-on (SSO) option, and turn-off the ability to sign in using an email and password? You can! This article will show you how.

About Uberflip’s Force SSO option

Some Uberflip admins may want to restrict how their users log in. If an identity provider (IdP) is set up in your Uberflip account (such as Okta or Google), you can choose to force all of your users to log in using that option.

Don't have SSO enabled?

Choosing the "Force SSO” option for your account means all email & password combos are unusable, and logging in using SSO is the only way to access an Uberflip account.

Caution

If some of your users already have email & password combos set up, those will still be remembered by Uberflip when "Force SSO" is on. If you disable the “Force SSO” option in the future, those users will be able to log in again with their password unless they're removed from your account.

Force Uberflip users to log in using SSO

As an account admin, If you have a single sign-on provider (AKA identity provider [IdP]) set up in your Uberflip account, you can force all of your users to log into Uberflip using that method. Here’s how:

  1. In Uberflip, click your name, then Account Settings in the topbar
  2. Click Security > User Sign-on Settings
  3. Toggle on the Force SSO setting
Note: You must have at least one IdP enabled to turn on Force SSO.

That’s it! All users must now sign into Uberflip using one of your SSO options.

Disable Force SSO

Force SSO can be turned off at any time by toggling off the Force SSO option.

  1. Click your name, then Account Settings in the topbar
  2. Click Security > User Sign-on Settings
  3. Toggle off the Force SSO setting

    Important

If some of your users already have email & password combos set up, those will still be remembered by Uberflip. This means when you disable the “Force SSO” option, those users will be able to log in again with their password unless they are removed from your account.

That’s it! Users can now log in with email and password combos again. If you have users who have never set up a password, they can create one now using the password reset process.
