What’s happened?
Due to unexpected changes from Twitter, the ability to create new Twitter Streams, and import Tweets into existing Streams, stopped on April 5th, 2023.
We attempted to fix this issue, but were not able to get the support from Twitter needed to do so.
For this reason, we officially retired Twitter Stream support as of April 24th, 2023.
Why did this happen?
In recent years, Twitter Streams have become less popular with Uberflip users. Twitter Streams lack the visual appeal of embedded Tweet options, and many of our users now opt to embed Tweets in Uberflip blog posts instead. So we had made plans to retire Twitter Streams in late 2023.
But on April 5th 2023, unexpected changes at Twitter caused us to lose our connection with their servers. We attempted to correct the issue, but weren't able to get the support needed from Twitter to do so.
For these reasons, we officially retired Twitter Stream support on April 24th, 2023.
Why did it happen now?
We always try to give notice before retiring an Uberflip feature. But in this case, an unexpected change to Twitter’s API broke our connection with Twitter on April 5th, 2023.
We attempted to fix the issue, but couldn't get the support needed from Twitter to make it happen. So we’re ending support for Twitter Streams now.
In the future, we’ll always do our best to give plenty of notice before retiring a feature.
What happens to my existing Twitter Streams?
Twitter Streams that are already in your Hubs will remain there, and will include any previously imported Tweets. But no new Tweets from April 5th onward will be imported.
You can’t import any new Tweets on existing Streams, and no new Twitter Streams can be created as of April 5th, 2023.
How can I add Tweets to my content experiences now?
We suggest embedding Tweets (and other social posts) into Uberflip blog posts for use in your Uberflip destinations.
This method provides a better visual/user experience for your visitors, and is preferred by many Uberflip users already.
Can I still share my Hub/Streams on Twitter?
Yes! The “Share” button in Uberflip still allows you to share your Streams and Hubs to Twitter. You can also copy a Stream/Hub URL and paste it into any Tweet.
Only the Twitter Streams functionality is affected by this change.
